Pickup Model: Porter Smooth and Classic Humbuckers

Position: Neck (Smooth) Bridge (Classic)

Comments:  I bought this set on a whim. I simply came across the website and thought I would branch out into new territory based on all the nice things that other players were saying. I have five electric guitars and really wanted my PRS SE Custom to get a chance to sound as great as it feels to play. I have a Suhr Guitar that kills, so now, my lesser expensive guitars seem pale-faced. But I like them and want them to sound as good as they feel. Wow. I feel like no one who was blindfolded would guess that this is a low-end PRS now, after having had these Porters installed! So happy with this set! I have to believe these babies will go up in price once the rest of the world gets a taste of them, so I would advise anyone who is looking into the pricey names to buy these and laugh about the change you still have in your pocket after having purchased the tone you thought you would pay a lot more for.

Pickup Model: Porter Smooth and Classic Humbuckers

Position: Neck (Smooth) Bridge (Classic)

Comments:  I have a swamp ash Les Paul with a Porter Classic in the Bridge and a Smooth in the neck and they are amazing! I've owned guitars with Seymour Duncan, PRS, and Gibson pickups and Porter has them all beat. The Classic has a warm, but clear sound that just sings, and the Smooth complements it perfectly.

Comments: I came to porter with some ideas.  I wanted that nice humbucker sound, but coil tapped. When coil tapped I wanted it to sound like a tele. Well he just about nailed it. Freaking awesome tone. It's gonna be hard to resist getting porter pickups in all of my guitars now. And not only is the pickup great, his customer service I par none! Fastest responses, and never talks down. Won't buy any other.

Pickup Model: Porter Classic and Smooth Humbuckers

Position: Neck (Smooth) Bridge (Classic)

Comments: I have an Epiphone SG 400 that I bought new about a year ago. Although I love the guitar I have always felt the tone was harsh and flat sounding. Fortunately for me when I was inquiring about upgrading the pickups at my local music store (Gig's Music) they recommended a local manufacturer Porter Pickups.
After contacting them I decided on a smooth neck pickup and a classic bridge pickup. In short I am amazed at the transformation, it sounds like a new much more expensive guitar. It has that beautiful warm smooth humbucker sound I have been missing with this guitar. I am just a novice guitar player but I am still thrilled by the outcome, well worth the investment.
The guys at Porter were great to work with and got my pickups to me before the estimated delivery time (about 5 days). If you are looking into upgrading your pickups you can’t go wrong with these guys.

Position: Neck (Smooth) Bridge (Classic)

Comments: I totally rewired an Epiphone Les Paul and placed Brian's pickups in it. These pickups are great for blues, classic and country rock. I play through a DIY '57 Tweed Deluxe and these pickups give lots of tonal variety with just minor adjustment to the volume and tone controls. The pickups are very complimentary of each other. Smooth is a very good name for the neck pickup, the classic produces a good, "crisp" tone in the bridge position. This was the tone upgrade I needed, it is like having a whole new guitar. I look forward to finding more and more useable tones and incorporating this guitar into my gigging rig! Thanks Brian, keep up the good work.

Comments: I installed the pickup in a customized Telecaster matched with a Seymour Duncan Little '59 and WHOO... The tone was AMAZING! It cuts through the mix perfectly and with the simple turn of the Tone knob you can get any sound you want out of it. I love my new Porter Pickup and can't wait to get another! If you don't have one I recommend getting one!

Comments: This Pickup delvers amazing overdriven tone. I have a custom amp built to the specs of a 60's Vox AC-30, and these pickups really showcase the ability of this amp. When the amp is cranked, the sound is sheer glory tone - as Brian and I like to put it - Face melting tone!!! When playing chords, you can hear each individual note ring out clearly. The stock pickups were muddy in the lows and the mids. If you are looking for a pickup that delivers great vintage overdriven tones - this is the pickup for you!,,Specs:4 conductor Wiring: Bridge-Classic-8.0k

Comments:  Just installed this pickup and have fallen in love! This pickup has managed as to catch the warm vintage but with add modern accents. I can't wait to get a second pickup for the bridge! I put it in my Gibson SG running through a Fender Bassman blackface. GREAT TONE!!!

Comments:  This is a GREAT bridge pickup. I ordered mine w/ a 9.2k resistance, and it can growl and still retain a vintage tone. I ordered this w/ a Smooth neck, and together they are heaven.

Comments: From smooth tones to deep growl, my Porter Pickup is way, WAY above my stock humbucker in my Custom Deluxe Ibanez. I am now able to play in the 1-2 pickup position as the new tone is just stellar. I wasn't able to play my clean channel through my old humbucker, but now....pure pleasure. The distortion growl is more like a teeth baring snarl from a rabid Doberman- ready to melt the face off who ever dares stand in my way. Thanks Porter Pickups!

Pickup Model: Porter Overdrive Humbucker, Porter Classic Humbucker

Position: Bridge (Overdrive) Neck (Classic)

Comments:  I tossed these overdrive pickups in my Firebird. I was blown away by the clarity and attitude. It cut through well, but wasn't overly distorted. For me, honestly, distortion is sometimes the wrong word to use. I like the aggressiveness of this pickup, but it is somehow clear at the same time. I think it's simply because it just sounds RIGHT. It's mean and loud, but it's a mature sound. it gives a good amp, a proper signal. It improved the forwardness of my sound a lot too, and with out the brittle sound you usually get from cheap "distortion" pickups. Sweeeeet. Thanks!

Comments:  I replaced the bridge pickup in my Epiphone Les Paul Studio. It now sounds like a complete new guitar. the tone is "Crisp" and has more "Punch." I feel like I have much more control over my guitar now. The tone used to be "muddy" and did not have good dynamics but that has completely changed because of my Porter Pickup. I defiantly needed this upgrade and would love to add another one of Brian's pickup in my neck as well. He is such a great guy to do work with and he cares extremely about what he is doing and is passionate about guitars and will go the extra mile to make sure the customer is satisfied.

Comments:  This pickup lives up to it's name - it delivers a very smooth sound. I use this pickup to play mellow, atmoshperic cleans layered with with delay. They deliver a eerie, hauntingly beautiful clean or a crisp cutting clean depending how you set your amp and your volume and tone knobs. I have also had a friend play jazz and blues throughout this pickup, and it sounded amazing. This pickup was made for jazz and blues!! Specs: 4 conductor Wiring: Neck-Smooth-7.5k

Comments:  I replaced the stock "d****n designed" humbucker on my Jackson bridge pickup. Previously, my tone was muddy and sweep arpeggios were very messy sounding. After installing the Porter pickup, I noticed that my notes were more clear and individually articulate. The tone was very good. The pickup seems to have a little more mids and lows than heavy and highs. I've enjoyed my playing much more with this pickup. I hope to replace the neck one someday as well with a Porter pickup!

Pickup Model: Porter Nashville Style Tele Set

Position: Tele Set with additional strat middle pickup

Comments: I have the Nashville Deluxe Tele which has a bridge and neck position tele pickups and a strat middle pickup. I always loved the way this guitar played, but was never sold on it's sound. The stock Tex-Mex Single Coil pickups gave the guitar a generic sound - There was nothing special about it. I knew this guitar's unique setup was capable of so much more. I had Brian make me a set of pickups to fit this guitar, and the difference is clearly apparent. With the stock pickups - the sound was weak and brittle and lack the twang teles are famous for. The Porter Pickups delivered a full bodied sound capable of broad tonal range. They deliver a punchy twang sound, and crystally chimey clean, a full bodied distortion. This guitar is a very useful guitar that is capable of alot of different tones. Highly recommended!!!!,,Specs:All Vintage Wiring: Neck-Tele- 5.6k, Middle-Strat-5.86k, Bridge-Tele Bridge-6.2k.,

Comments: "Porter pickups transformed my tele into a dynamic, roaring beast! In fact, I thought I had a new amp, as well. They look the same, but they don't sound the same...they sound more soulful, articulate, fatter, and punchier. He's really into getting the "sound" you want so don't be afraid to ask..."

Pickup Model: Porter Classic P90

Position: Bridge

Comments:  I believe this was Brian's first P-90 wind and I must say he nailed it. This pickup has the standard wind(about 9k).I threw this into the bridge position of a Gibson Les Paul Special faded to replace the stock p'up. This pickup is very well balanced and clear, not cleaner, clear. Excellent note definition. About the same amount of gain as the stock p'up. The stock p'up had a problem of getting rather boomy and muddy in the low end. Brian's P-90 fixed this plus gave me even more clarity and definition through out the tonal range. Plus excellent mids. If you have a guitar with a P-90 in it, I highly recommend one of Brian's pickups.

Pickup Model: Porter Modern Single Coil Set

Comments:  I've tried quite a few strat pickups in the last couple of years. Some were handwound and some were from big name companies. They were good pickups but I just couldn't find what I was looking for until now. I needed pickups that could cover a wide range of music and the Moderns fit perfectly. I put them in a Strat that had a dark sound to and they balanced it out just right. I know in some Strat sets the middle pickup is rarely used but the one in this set is great. The best neck pickup I've ever used. The bridge isn't thin and ice picky like some I've played. I'm real happy with these pickups and I hope to try some of the other sets Brian has.

Comments:  I recently installed the single coil 1960's pickups in my Strat. All I can say is wow! These pickups give me what I need when I "dig in." Very clean and chimey when played straight through an amp. Nice definition with effects never losing their character. As a long time strat player, I haven't been this excited about pickups in a very long time. Well done Porter Pickups!

Comments:  The single-coil Strat pickups offered by Porter Pickups are outstanding examples of quality craftsmanship, vintage tone, and bulletproof construction. Brian personally wound me a set of custom '61 Strat pickups and I've had them on my main Strat now for 6 months. They've held up to touring the US and Canada and consistently sound great, night after night. I am using Vox and Divided by 13 amps. Thanks to Porter for making a killer product.

Comments:  These pickups are killer! They replaced a set of PRS Dragon II's, and I couldn't be happier: they have the clarity and growl that was missing. They are incredibly articulate and responsive and absolutely rockin'! And Brian's customer service and help couldn't be better... I'm blown away. Thank you!

Comments:  I have PAF Humbuckers in the neck and bridge of a '08 Les Paul. They are the proto type
for the soon to be released Porter Humbuckers. I don't even know what to call them yet. That being said these pickups rock! They have great clarity and balance in the clean settings. And I really like the way you can roll up the overdrive with the volume pot. Love the tones. Great people to deal with. Thanks Porter Pickups.
