The Porter S90 pickup is a hybrid we developed to give you something different tonally in a single coil housing. You could think of it as a regular single coil pickup on steroids. The S90’s are more aggressive, louder and edgier than a traditional AlNiCo rod single coil pickup. They will drive your amp harder due to the aggressive ceramic magnets underneath and a DC reading that’s close to many humbuckers we offer. When used as a set with a RW/RP middle pickup, the S90’s still achieve a convincing “quack” in positions 2 & 4 of a 5-way switch.

    Amazing horn like p90 tones

    I LOVE this pickup. It really does sound like a p90. I have a Mexican Player 2 Stratocaster and I love the single coil in the neck. I replaced the Humbucker bridge with a PAF 57 from Dimarzio and added the s90 porter in the middle. It sings and I really don’t leave the Porter pickup much. Sorry Dimarzio.

    Blown away…everything and more

    Snagged the neck and middle S90s for a G&L Legacy HSS Fully Deluxe. Pristine clarity and hot at both positions. So many more sounds now. Have a Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special in the bridge that the middle is pairing with and does so very well. Excited about continuing to explore. Thanks Porter!

    S90 adds some Gibby character to my Strats

    Love the S90s. My main guitar is a Strat that I use as a chameleon guitar. I always missed having some of that Goldtop “bloop” in the neck position. The S90 did the trick, and it’s less muddy in the bass. I liked it so much, I put an S90 in another more-conventional Strat’s middle position — a position I typically never used. The S90 in the middle has so much more mids and body.

    That bridge position is so sweet!!

    These took the generally ice picky bridge position and made it one I like as much as the others. Great upgrade!!
